Item settings
Each item has its individual settings. Go to an item and click the Settings tab. The settings are grouped into sections in a menu on the left. Which sections you see depends on the item type — fixed assets have Purchase information and Kit, while inventory items have an Inventory section instead.
General
- Change the item type — Fixed asset (equipment, tools etc.) or Inventory (raw materials, consumables etc.)
- Change the item name
- Add a unique ID, like a serial number, license plate, etc.
Purchase information (fixed assets)
Value is depreciated straight-line from the purchase cost down to the estimated salvage value over the asset's lifespan.
- Set the purchase date and cost
- Set the expected lifespan in years — the end-of-life date is calculated for you
- Pick a depreciation rate preset, or set a custom rate
- The salvage value is auto-calculated from the rate; you can override it manually
Inventory (inventory items)
- Set the unit of measurement shown alongside the amount (e.g. pcs, kg, m)
- Set the low-stock threshold — if inventory goes under this amount, the primary person responsible will be notified
The stock amount itself is changed on the item's Inventory tab, see Add, pick and adjust inventory.
Description
- Edit the description of the item (rich text)
Properties
- Define the item type. Click the field to pick a type; changes are saved immediately.
- Primary Person Responsible (PPR). Define one of the users to be the main person responsible for this item. The selected user will be notified on important changes and events (issues, low inventory etc.).
- Home location: Set this if the item belongs to a certain location when idle.
- Vendors: Link contacts to the item as supplier, manufacturer or service provider.
Specifications
- Add specifications like brand, model, size, weight or any custom specification you like. Drag the handle in front of a row to reorder them. (Available on Startup and higher plans.)
Categories
Here you can set different attributes that apply to the item, like make, model, size, or any category — just tick the values that apply. Categories and category values must be added to the account before they can be applied to an item (see Categories).
Kit (fixed assets)
- Enable the item as a kit container, and add or remove the items it contains. If the item is part of a kit, this section shows which kit instead. (Available on Startup and higher plans.)
Misc
- Enable/disable public item — when enabled, the public URL is shown here so you can copy or open it
- Display item record info (when it was created and updated, and by whom)
