Import contacts from a spreadsheet

If you already keep customers and suppliers in a spreadsheet or can export them from another system, you can import them all at once instead of typing them in one by one.

  1. Open Contacts in the main menu and click Import in the toolbar.
  2. Upload: Click to select your spreadsheet, or drag and drop it. XLS, XLSX and CSV files are supported. For workbooks with several sheets, pick the sheet to use.
  3. Map columns: Each column in your file is shown as a card with sample values. Itefy auto-matches common column headers (Name, Email, Phone, City, …); adjust any card's dropdown yourself, or set it to None (skip column). You must map at least a Company / full name column or First / Last name columns to continue. Available fields include name, role/title, department, emails, phone/mobile/fax, website, LinkedIn, registration/VAT numbers, address fields, country and notes.
  4. Review: Check the resulting table. Untick rows you don't want, and click any cell to correct its value before importing.
  5. Click Import N contacts and watch the progress. The result screen tells you how many contacts were imported (and how many were left out, if any).

Good to know

  • Company or person is decided per row: A row with a first or last name becomes a person; a row with only a company/full name becomes a company. If your file mixes both, they import correctly side by side.
  • Country must be a 2-letter ISO code (e.g. US, DE, NO).
  • The import creates new contacts — it does not update existing ones. If you end up with duplicates, use Merge duplicate… on the contact page afterwards.
  • People imported this way are not linked to a company automatically; open the person and set their company, or use Link existing person on the company.
